Trump Threatens Hamas with Destruction Over Hostage Situation: ‘You Are Dead’

Former U.S. President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of Israeli hostages. If they do not comply, Trump declared, “you are dead.” His statement came after the U.S. confirmed talks with Hamas, a major departure from their long-standing policy of not negotiating with terrorists. This warning highlights the tensions in the Israel-Hamas conflict as a fragile ceasefire holds.

Trump’s Stark Warning to Hamas: “You Are Dead”

Donald Trump posted a blunt message to Hamas on his Truth Social platform. He demanded, “Release all of the hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered or it is over for you.” The message came after U.S. officials held direct talks with Hamas in Doha, Qatar. Trump’s envoy for hostage affairs, Adam Boehler, participated in these talks.

U.S. Breaks Tradition: Direct Talks with Hamas

The U.S. has avoided negotiations with Hamas for years, as the group has been labeled a terrorist organization by Washington since 1997. However, the U.S. chose to engage with Hamas in this case, citing the urgency of the situation. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the need to protect American lives, which prompted President Trump’s decision to act in what he considers a “good faith” effort.

Trump’s Warning: “This Is Your Last Chance”

Trump made it clear to Hamas that this was their final warning. He said, “This is your last warning. For the leadership of Hamas, now is the time to leave Gaza, while you still have a chance.” He also assured Israel that the U.S. would provide whatever support was necessary to finish the job against Hamas.

Hostages and Bodies Still in Gaza

The hostage situation remains critical. Israel estimates that Hamas is holding 24 hostages, including U.S. citizen Edan Alexander. Additionally, Hamas has the bodies of at least 35 people. Trump’s warning highlights the urgency of releasing both the hostages and the deceased.

The Future of the Israel-Hamas Ceasefire

A new ceasefire proposal is on the table, but its future remains uncertain. The U.S. Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is working on a deal. This proposal would require Hamas to release half of its remaining hostages in exchange for an extended ceasefire and negotiations toward a lasting peace.

The Stakes Are High

The pressure on Hamas to release the hostages is growing. Trump’s warning, combined with ongoing talks between the U.S. and Israel, shows how critical the next steps are for the region. If Hamas does not comply, there could be severe consequences.
